Last year Oracle purchased Sun Microsystem, and with this takeover they also got their hands on the Java programming language and platform.
Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle said that Java is the only and most important software they ever purchased.
Java is currently being used in writing the majority of applications for companies all over the world. Computer manufacturers and mobile phones manufacturers are paying money in order to use this software.
However Google is not paying at all. It’s not a secret the fact that Dalvik and Android are based on Java, however Oracle is not happy at all with this situation.
Oracle said that they are going to sue Google because they violated their copyright and patents. Oracle says that Android is breaching 7 Oracle patents and that Google contains copies of the original Java code.
Eric Schmidt worked for Sun, being the Java team leader, and he now works for Google. Oracle said that Google knew about these problems for almost 5 years now.
