Sony Ericsson is going to exclusively manufacture smartphones starting with next year. So, the company is getting ready to face some seriously competition from manufacturers like Apple, Samsung, HTC, etc.
On Friday Sony Ericsson announced that their profit increased on the third trimester, at 31 million euro, above analysts expectations. In the second trimester, Sony Ericsson recorded a 42 million euro loss.
However the company expects a a bigger pressure on their financial results mostly because of the global economy.
“If the consumers trust issues continues it will affect the mobile industry” Bert Nordberg said.
Last week, a source close to the situation told Reuters that Sony is interesting in purchasing 50% of Ericsson however Nordberg refuse to comment on the situation.
Analysts think that Sony Ericsson, the ninth biggest mobile phones manufacturer in the world, can attract new clients only if they would get their hands on serious actives from Sony.
Currently smartphones represent 80% of the entire Sony Ericsson sales.
